Harold (Hal) J. Willson, Jr. practices in the firm's Greenville, South Carolina office and serves as the firm's managing shareholder. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Wofford College and his J.D. degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was a member of the Environmental Law Journal.
Hal was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1993 and is a member of The South Carolina Bar Association, the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Educational Association and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. He has been named a US News Best Lawyer in Workers' Compensation Law every year since 2008. Hal holds an AV Preeminent rating from Lexis Nexis Martindale-Hubbell indicating the highest level of ethical and professional excellence. Hal served on the board of the South Carolina Educational Association from 2007 through 2012 and The Kids' Chance of South Carolina board for over 15 years. In 2017, Hal was awarded the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the Workers’ Compensation System in South Carolina during the course of his career.
A lifelong resident of South Carolina, Hal lives in Greenville with his wife, Suzanne, and two sons, Arthur and Matthew. He is an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville and in his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and hunting. Hal served as a JAG officer in the South Carolina Army National Guard and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 22 years of service.
