Deidre W. Smallwood practices in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina office. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Economics, magna cum laude, from Presbyterian College, along with double minors in English and History, in 2011, and she earned her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014. While in law school, Deidre served as Articles Editor for The South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business, was a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and her student note, entitled The Sex Selection Debate: A Comparative Study of Sex Selection Laws in the United States and the United Kingdom, was published in the Fall 2013 edition of the The South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business.
Deidre is admitted to practice in the South Carolina Bar and the United States District Court, District of South Carolina. She is also a member of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. Her practice focuses on liability litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Deidre’s practice areas included family law, civil litigation, estate planning, and probate court matters.
A native of the Upstate, Deidre now calls Lexington home. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Austin, and their Cockapoo puppy, Buttons. Deidre is also a member of the Junior League of Columbia and enjoys cooking, exercising, traveling, cheering on the Blue Hose and the Gamecocks, and spending time with friends and family.
