M. Kyle Thompson graduated from Wake Forest University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After a year working with an electrical contractor, he attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 2000. During his time in law school, Kyle was the Senior Articles Editor for the American Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal.
Kyle was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2000. He clerked for The Honorable Larry R “Choppy” Patterson and then joined one of Greenville’s oldest civil defense litigation firms. Kyle focuses his practice primarily on civil litigation representing individuals, insurers and businesses in lawsuits involving personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, insurance coverage, breach of contract and various other claims in both state and federal courts. Kyle also litigates disputes involving real property, business, and construction matters, and he has represented banks and lending institutions in collections, foreclosures, and other litigation. He is a member of South Carolina Bar Association, Greenville County Bar Association, and South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association. He also serves the profession as a member of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Resolution of Fee Disputes Board.
Kyle was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, where he still resides with his wife, Christine, an ordained elder in the South Carolina Conference of United Methodist Church, and their three children. They attend Travelers Rest United Methodist Church, where Kyle assists with children’s Sunday School. In his spare time, Kyle enjoys spending time with his family and cheering for his Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
